I am close to the end of the month and having EOM (end of month) numbers for my metric I have been pushing for the last 60 days. As of this morning I was sitting at only 19% non-participation. Not bad when you consider that it was at 45+% when I took charge of it.
Pushing the same and sprinkling the new
With the attention and momentum that this metric has been getting, it is time to pay attention to another metric that has been lagging – since we started it roughly 18 months ago. I received a report and showed that currently this metric is at .9%. Yes .9%. As in less than 1%!
Will I be doing the same to push this metric? No.
I want to get the field to take ownership over pushing and leading the way. Not being beaten by the stick. I prefer they go after the carrot. We’ll all enjoy the rewards much better this way!
I reached out to one of the regional sales managers today about testing a new training program. It’s what I have been pushing since I started in this new role. The new training program is based on habit change/creation. Better yet, it’s using sound social psychological tools to get our team members to take ownership and become accountable for their goals.
I’ll begin to elaborate more on the tools I’m using and creating to help facilitate the change. The fun aspect is that on a personal level you would easily be able to use these tools to help you in achieving your own goals. Whether that is attaining something new or changing a certain habit you’re not happy with.
Well it is pretty late and I still have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. Thanks for keeping up with me so far!
